Skyline High School IB Admissions Policy
Admissions policy at public schools are defined by catchment zones defined by the Issaquah School District. Revisions to policy reside with the School Board and Superintendent but include other school personnel. These policies are communicated through District Policy and Procedure manuals and communicated via the Issaquah School District websites, school-based registrars and counseling offices and local school websites.
Per these policies and in line with our belief that all students deserve barrier-free access to all available educational opportunities, Skyline HS only requires that students live in the catchment zone for the school in order to access IB courses. Once students are enrolled at Skyline High School there are no entrance exams or formal applications for involvement in IB. The only underlying conditions for enrollment in IB courses is that students meet any existing published course prerequisites AND that students are in grades 11 or 12. Students seeking standalone IB Courses work with their school counselors to select courses through our annual Course Request Process (CRP) each February-March. For students wishing to participate in the IB Career or IB Diploma Certificate programs, we ask that students attend one of the annual program orientations held during their 10th grade year, prior to the CRP for their grade 11 classes.
